Authentic Mexican Arrachera Tacos with Salsa Verde

Authentic Mexican Arrachera Tacos with Salsa Verde
(Carne Asada)
Food Crafting - lol :)

I was lucky enough to have a very sweet friend teach me how to make these authentic steak tacos that are my families favorite meal.   I made this meal Live on Periscope in 3 sections, the prep, how the veggies should look when ready for the Verde salsa and how to cook and serve the tacos.  So, I hope you enjoy the videos and make some for your family :)  Full recipe and ingredient list is below.

Preparing the ingredients:

Full Recipe for Arrachera Tacos:
  • Arrachera - Back Skirt Steak - 3 to 4 pounds (sliced thin and passed thru the machine)
It is best to find a hispanic grocery store to get the meat, as the butcher department                               knows how to slice and tenderize the meat for these authentic steak tacos.  believe me I                       have tried to find this type of meat at other stores, but the flavor is just not the same if                         the meat is not prepared properly)
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 10 limes - wash and juice
  • tortillas - to serve taco on (corn or flour warmed)
Instructions:
1. Salt and pepper each side of meat,
2. Sprinkle each piece with 1/ tsp of lime juice.
3. Place each piece as you go, into bowl.
4. Pour beer over meat, cover and marinate 1/2 hr
to 24 hr for more flavor.  Grill till nice and brown.

*  Serve on corn or flour tortilla and add toppings.

Salsa Verde:

Tomatillos - 3 large or 6 small - cleaned and husked
  •  Jalapeno  Peppers - 3 large
  •  Serrano Pepper -1 pepper
  •  Garlic - 1 tsp
  •  Cilantro -  chopped very fine - to taste
Instructions:
* Combine Tomatillos, Jalapeno and Serrano peppers in pot,
add water and boil until all ingredients are soft.  Drain water,
then place in a blender, add salt, black pepper, garlic and
   cilantro to taste.

Fresh Tomato Salsa:
  • 3 Fresh plum tomatoes - Chopped into small cubes or rough chop
  • 1/2 Yellow onion - Chopped into small cubes or rough chop
  • Cilantro to taste
  • Salt & pepper to tast
* Mix all together and marinate for about 1/2 hour.

Serve Family Style - let everyone create their own tacos :)

Hi all Fleurette here, thanks for hopping in :).  I was so honored when Dana asked me to be a part of this hop, she is such a beautiful joyous person, plus she is an amazing crafter!!!  I know you will love her just as much as I do <3

When I think of Dana I think of sunshine, so I create this fun hanging wood plack that sums it up. lol
All the details on how I created it are below the photo.  Plus, I will be doing a live Periscope tutorial on this cutie on my Periscope Channel https://www.periscope.tv/FBStamps.  If you miss the live broadcast, you can always check the replays of all my shows @ https://katch.me/Fleurettebloom.

I found these adorable chalkboard placks at Hobby Lobby and they come in a variety of sizes and shapes.   They are easy to use and make great gifts.

Crafty Project Ingredients:

  • Clear Photo Polymer Stamp Sets: "Sun Moon & Stars"  - Sun and sentiment
  •                                                        "Up, Up And Away" - Clouds and birds
  • Embossing Ink - Brutus Monroe  (love his inks, my favorite)
  • Gold Embossing Powder - Brutus Monroe "Gilded"
  • Emboss It Pen - Ranger - I found mine on Amazon, but you can also get them at your local craft store.
  • Chalkboard Plack and wood text bubble - Check your local craft store.
  • Hot Glue and Glue Gun
  • Anti Static Tool - I bought mine on Amazon, or you can check your local craft store.  Dryer sheets will also work in a pinch.
How to:
  1. Dust your plack and text bubble with your anti-static tool.  This helps to keep your embossing powder to stick only to the embossing ink.
  2. Ink up your stamp with your clear embossing powder and stamp as desired on wood pieces.
  3. Emboss the outside of your text bubble using your embossing pen. (I did half at a time, so I did not knock off powder when I held it to heat with my heat gun).
  4. Dust all pieces with your embossing powder and heat with your heat gun.
  5. Hot glue your sentiment bubble to one corner and voila you have a great gift to give to a friend or hang in your home :)
Thanks for joining me here today. I hope you enjoyed this project and will think about giving it a try! Have a wonderful day and enjoy the rest of this fun hop with all the other talented ladies :)

Happy Birthday Birdies....

Been slacking through the holidays, lol. Gotta get back in a routine!
Today I have a card post for you using some new stamps from Fleurette Bloom. I hope you like it!

I started out by making a mask with a circle cut out in the center. I lightly did some ink blending using a very soft green.  I then stamped the wreath in a bit darker green. I filled in using one of the leaves in the set.

I then die cut lots of the heart image and used the coordinating stamp using pink ink. I scattered them around the wreath, some put onto foam adhesive.

Then I die cut the little birds and stamped with Copic friendly ink. Used a couple blue markers and colored them in. Popped those up on foam tape as well.

I scattered some tiny pearls around as a final accent. Stamped the sentiment and put the card front onto a card base in a color that went nicely with the pink hearts.

A very simple card but sometimes, well, a lot of times, I really like that clean and simple look. Plus, they are much easier to make and take way less time and materials, lol! It's a win win!

Here's what I used on this card.
